The next Shanghai auto show is starting to come into sight, with the Chengdu auto show about to begin in two days.
The 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2025) will be held from April 25 to May 2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from April 25 to May 2, the event’s organizers announced yesterday.
April 23-24 will be media days, April 25-26 will be the professional visitors’ days, and the general public will be able to visit from April 27 to May 2, according to an announcement yesterday.
The auto show’s expected display size amounts to 360,000 square meters, according to the announcement.
Separately, the event’s organizers will host a 2025 global automotive leaders closed-door summit on April 22, the first time the event will be held.
People from government departments, industry organizations, automotive and technology sectors, will discuss the current state and future of the global automotive industry.
Started in 1985 and held every two years, the Shanghai auto show has become one of the world’s most watched automotive industry events, with new energy vehicles (NEVs) rapidly rising in China.
The last time the event was held in April 18-27, 2023, with 1,413 vehicles on display, including 513 NEVs.
At that time, 93 vehicles made their world debut, including 28 from multinational companies. Additionally, 64 concept cars were displayed at the event.
Auto Shanghai 2023 hosted more than 13,000 global media workers and 906,000 visitors.
Chinese automakers are currently preparing for the Chengdu auto show, which is held annually and this year will begin on August 30 and run until September 8.
