Nio‘s (NYSE: NIO) mobile app renews its display of vehicle wait times, as it begins to allow customers to lock in orders for 2024 models.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker is currently delivering the ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring, the first five of which are SUVs and the last three are sedans.
On February 2, the Nio App stopped displaying wait times for these models before the Chinese New Year holiday, and only displayed the text that said customers “New Year purchase privileges available”. The Chinese New Year holiday just ended was from February 10 to 17.
Today, the Nio App resumed displaying wait times for almost all models, with wait times of 2-4 weeks for ET5 Touring, ES6, EC6, EC7, ES8, and 9-11 weeks for ET5, 11-13 weeks for ES7, and still no display for ET7.
Earlier today, Nio announced that seven models — the 2024 ES8, ES7, EC7, ES6, EC6, ET5, and ET5 Touring — have begun to allow orders to be locked in, with no change in starting prices.
The 2024 ET7 will be released and begin allowing order lock-ins in April, Nio said.
Deliveries of the new ES8, EC7, ES6, EC6, and ET5 Touring will begin in March, the ET5 in April, and the ES7 in May, it said.
The older 2023 models are still on sale, and the company is offering short-term purchase incentives for these models, and those interested can inquire at stores, Nio said.
Updates for the 2024 models focus on upgrading the cockpit chip to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295, as well as offering more options and comfort features.
Nio delivered 10,055 vehicles in January, up 18.21 percent from 8,506 a year ago but down 44.18 percent from 18,012 in December.
As of February 18, Nio had 2,800 insurance registrations in China so far this month, according to figures shared by Li Auto earlier this week. That’s significantly lower than the same period in January, as the Lunar New Year holiday brought disruptions.
