CATL‘s share of the Chinese EV battery market increased by 3.4 percentage points in October compared to September, while BYD‘s share decreased by 0.77 percentage points.
CATL’s share of China’s electric vehicle (EV) battery market rose in October, while BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) declined slightly.
In October, China’s power battery installed base was 39.2 GWh, up 28.3 percent year-on-year and up 7.6 percent from September, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).
CATL’s power battery installed capacity in October was 16.78 GWh, ranking first with a 42.81 percent share, up 3.4 percentage points from September’s 39.41 percent share.
BYD’s power battery installed capacity was 10.28 GWh in October, ranking second with a 26.23 percent share, down 0.77 percentage points from 27 percent in September.
BYD’s share of China’s power battery market was around 34 percent in both January and February. Since March, BYD’s share has been below 30 percent, except in May.
CALB’s power battery installed capacity was 3.79 GWh in October, placing it in third place with a 9.67 percent share, down 0.39 percentage points from 10.06 percent in September.
Eve Energy ranked fourth in October with 2.04 GWh of installed capacity and a 5.21 percent share.
Gotion High-tech ranked fifth with 4.49 percent share in October with 1.76 GWh installed.
Gotion was overtaken by Eve Energy in April, a situation that lasted until July, and Gotion overtook Eve Energy in August to rank fourth, before being overtaken by Eve Energy again in September.
China’s Li-ion ternary battery installed base amounted to 12.3 GWh in October, accounting for 31.4 percent of the total installed base, up 14.0 percent year-on-year and up 0.8 percent from September.
The installed volume of LFP batteries was 26.8 GWh, accounting for 68.5 percent of the total installed volume, up 36.4 percent year-on-year, and up 10.9 percent from September.
In the LFP battery market, BYD topped the list with a 38.31percent share of the LFP battery market with an installed volume of 10.28 GWh in October, but down from 40.65 percent in September.
CATL ranked second in the LFP battery market with an installed volume of 8.54 GWh in October with a share of 31.84percent, up from 28.42 percent in September.
