Avatr, which was called Changan Nio a few years ago, has officially launched the Avatr 12 with a starting price of RMB 300,800.

Avatr Technology, the electric vehicle (EV) brand backed by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei, has officially launched its first sedan, the Avatr 12, and said that the model has received good initial acceptance.
In the first 36 hours after launch, the Avatr 12 received more than 6,700 firm orders, the company announced on Weibo yesterday.
Avatr officially launched the Avatr 12, a mid-to-large-size all-electric sedan, at an event on the night of November 10, with scale deliveries expected to begin in December.
Avatr was originally founded as Changan Nio by Changan and Nio on July 10, 2018, but Nio has now largely exited from the company.
After several years of bumpy development, Avatr launched its first model, the Avatr 11 SUV, on August 9, 2022, and its deliveries began at the end of December last year.
Beside the regular Avatr 11, Avatr also has a limited-edition model, the Avatr 011, whose deliveries started in February this year.
The Avatr 12 measures 5,020 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,020 mm.
The car is offered in three versions with starting prices of RMB 308,000 ($41,270), RMB 340,800 and RMB 400,800 respectively. Customers who order now can get up to RMB 30,000 in limited time benefits.
The Avatr 12 has similar dimensions to the Nio ET7, which measures 5,101 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width and 1,509 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm.
The Nio ET7 currently starts at RMB 428,000 in China including the battery, and it supports battery swap, while the Avatr 12 does not.
The Avatr 12 is powered by electric motors supplied by Huawei, and the least expensive version is a single-motor model with a peak motor power of 230 kW that can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
The other two versions of the model are powered by twin motors with 195 kW and 230 kW of maximum power at the front and rear motors, respectively, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The Avatr 12 is equipped with Li-ion ternary battery packs from CATL, all with a capacity of 94.5 kWh, and the three versions have a CLTC range of 700 km, 650 km and 650 km respectively.
The model comes standard with three LiDARs and is equipped with ADS 2.0, Huawei’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) system, which is claimed to realize advanced intelligent driving capabilities without relying on high-precision maps.
The Avatr 12’s smart cockpit is powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4, and is the second model to be equipped with the system.
On November 9, Luxeed, the EV brand jointly created by Huawei and Chery, unveiled its first model, the Luxeed S7, which is the first to be powered by HarmonyOS 4.
