Avatr Technology, the electric vehicle (EV) brand backed by Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei, has launched an update to its only current electric sedan, the Avatr 12, bringing down the starting price.
Avatr launched the 2024 Avatr 12 on March 29 at a starting price of RMB 265,800 ($36,800), a reduction of RMB 35,000, or 11.64 percent, from its predecessor’s RMB 300,800 starting price.
The updated Avatr 12 is available in four trims, with the two least expensive being the single-motor rear-wheel drive version and the two more expensive being the dual-motor four-wheel drive version. They start at RMB 265,800, RMB 300,800, RMB 340,800 and RMB 400,800 respectively.
The electric sedan was initially launched on November 10, 2023, when it was offered in one single-motor version and two dual-motor versions with starting prices of RMB 300,800, RMB 340,800, and RMB 400,800, respectively.
Avatr’s new Avatr 12 has a lower-priced entry version that wasn’t previously offered, while the prices of the three previously available versions remain unchanged.
However, it is worth noting that for the three pricier models, Avatr is allowing customers to use the deposit of RMB 5000 yuan against the final payment of RMB 27,000 for the purchase of the car until April 30.
This means that for the three pricier customers who purchase the 2024 Avatr 12 before April 30, the starting price is reduced to RMB 278,800, RMB 318,800, and RMB 378,800 respectively.
The Avatr 12 is a mid-to-large-size sedan with length, width and height of 5,020 mm, 1,999 mm and 1,460 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 3,020 mm.
These dimensions are similar to those of the Nio ET7, which measures 5,101 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width and 1,509 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,060 mm.
The Avatr 12 uses Huawei’s Huawei Inside solution with the tech giant’s components including motors.
Its two single-motor versions both have 230 kW of peak motor power and 370 Nm of peak torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
The two dual-motor version has an additional front motor with 195 kW of peak power and 280 Nm of peak torque and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The model is equipped with a 94.5 kWh capacity Li-ion ternary battery from CATL across the lineup, with a CLTC range of 700 kilometers for both single-motor versions and 650 kilometers for both dual-motor versions.
The Avatr 12 comes standard with three LiDARs and is equipped with Huawei’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) system, ADS 2.0, which enables advanced smart driving capabilities that do not rely on high-precision maps.
