With 62,840 units sold in September, the Song family continues to rank as the top-selling BYD model, up 35.26 percent year-on-year.
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) today reported record new energy vehicle (NEV) sales of 287,454 units in September, and later released a breakdown showing the performance of different models.
The Song family continued to rank as the top-selling BYD model with 62,840 units sold in September, up 35.26 percent year-on-year and up 8.46 percent from August.
From January to September, Song family models sold 431,051 units, up 48.36 percent year-on-year.
The BYD brand’s models include the Dynasty and Ocean series, and the Song family models include the Song Pro DM-i and Song Max DM-i of the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i of the Ocean series.
BYD’s Dynasty series of Song models sold 22,675 units in September, up 7.98 percent from 21,000 in August.
Its Ocean series of Song models sold 40,165 units in September, up 8.73 percent from 36,940 in August.
BYD’s Qin family of models sold 45,072 units in September, up 14.06 percent year-on-year and up 0.15 percent from August.
The Qin family continued to be the second best-selling BYD model in September. The Qin family models had previously been BYD’s top sellers from March through June, but were replaced again by the Song family in July.
From January through September, BYD sold 350,544 units of the Qin family models, up 34.89 percent year-on-year.
The Seagull continued to be BYD’s third highest selling model in September with 40,092 units sold, up 15.07 percent from August.
The BYD Seagull was launched on April 26 at a starting price of RMB 73,800, making it the cheapest BYD model. The model sold 141,739 units from April to September.
The Dolphin sold 32,927 units in September, up 31.94 percent year-on-year and up 0.56 percent from August, making it the fourth best-selling BYD model last month.
In the January-September period, the BYD Dolphin sold 260,470 units, up 103.58 percent year-on-year.
The BYD Yuan family sold 32,856 units in September, up 39.79 percent year-on-year and up 0.59 percent from August.
In the January-September period, BYD sold 303,127 units of its Yuan family models, up 112.57 percent year-on-year.
BYD’s flagship sedan Han sold 22,794 units in September, down 27.63 percent year-on-year and up 0.15 percent from August.
In the January-September period, the Han family of models sold 166,822 units, down 7.61 percent year-on-year.
BYD Seal sold 14,427 units in September, up 93.05 percent year-on-year and up 153.11 percent from August.
The BYD Seal was initially launched in China on July 29, 2022, and deliveries began last August. BYD made a revamped version of the Seal available on May 10. On September 6, BYD made the hybrid Seal DM-i available.
In January-September, BYD Seal sold 68,574 units, an increase of 817.62 percent year-on-year.
BYD’s flagship SUV Tang sold 10,409 units in September, down 30.87 percent year-on-year and down 14.97 percent from August.
In the January-September period, the Tang family of models sold 104,652 units, up 11.94 percent year-on-year.
BYD Chaser 05 sold 7,950 units in September, down 12.65 percent year-on-year and down 34.25 percent from August.
In the January-September period, BYD Chaser 05 sold 71,942 units, up 690.48 percent year-on-year.
The BYD Frigate 07 sold 4,081 units in September, down 11.36 percent from August. The model was officially launched on December 19, 2022.
In the January-September period, BYD Frigate 07 sold 60,853 units.
The BYD e2 sold 199 units in September, down 88.69 percent from August. The compact NEV was launched on April 6 and has accumulated sales of 14,899 units so far.
BYD’s premium brand Denza sold 13,156 units in September, up 14.25 percent from August.
The Denza D9 MPV sold 10,249 units, the N7 SUV sold 1,810 units and the N8 SUV sold 1,097 units in September.
