BYD today announced its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales for November, followed by breakdown figures showing the performance of different brands and models.
BYD’s NEVs include passenger NEVs and commercial NEVs, with the former including sales of different brands including BYD, Denza, Yangwang and Fang Cheng Bao.
The company sold 301,903 NEVs in November, including 301,378 passenger cars and 525 commercial vehicles.
BYD-branded passenger cars — including Dynasty and Ocean models — sold 288,501 units in November, up 27.4 percent year-on-year.
The premium Denza brand sold 11,843 units in November, up 243.18 percent year-on-year and up 2.98 percent from October.
Denza’s sales in November included 10,446 units of the D9 MPV, 1,033 units of the N7 SUV and 364 units of the N8 SUV.
Personalized sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao sold 626 vehicles in November. Fang Cheng Bao’s first model, the Bao 5, was officially launched on November 9 and deliveries began on November 23.
The Yangwang brand sold 408 vehicles in November. The BYD ultra-luxury sub-brand launched its first model, the U8, on September 20, with deliveries starting on November 24.
Among BYD-branded models, the Song family continued to rank as the top-selling model with 61,694 units sold in November, albeit down 3.82 percent year-on-year and down 3.55 percent from October.
In the January-November period, Song family models sold 556,710 units, up 35.28 percent year-on-year.
The Song family models on sale include the Song Pro DM-i and Song Max DM-i from the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i from the Ocean series.
BYD’s Dynasty series of Song models sold 20,317 units in November, down 10.78 percent from 22,771 in October.
Its Ocean range of Song models sold 41,377 units in November, up 0.44 percent from 41,194 in October.
The Seagull was the second-highest selling BYD model with 44,603 units sold in November, up 2.89 percent from October.
The BYD Seagull was launched on April 26 with a starting price of RMB 73,800 ($10,330), making it the cheapest BYD model. The model sold 229,692 units from April to November.
BYD’s Qin family of models sold 42,440 units in November, up 49.86 percent year-on-year while down 0.76 percent from 42,767 units in October.
The Qin family was the third best-selling BYD model in November.
From January to November, the BYD Qin family sold 435,751 units, up 34.96 percent year-on-year.
The BYD Yuan family sold 42,323 units in November, up 43.95 percent year-on-year and up 2.11 percent from October.
In the January-November period, BYD Yuan family models sold 386,899 units, up 93.88 percent year-on-year.
The Dolphin sold 35,246 units in November, up 35.23 percent year-on-year and up 0.16 percent from October, and was the fifth best-selling BYD model last month.
In the January-November period, the BYD Dolphin sold 330,905 units, up 84.51 percent year-on-year.
BYD’s flagship sedan Han sold 20,392 units in November, down 35.85 percent year-on-year while up 0.62 percent from October.
In the January-November period, the Han family of models sold 207,481 units, down 14.96 percent year-on-year.
BYD Seal sold 19,860 units in November, up 29.33 percent year-on-year and up 5.66 percent from October.
The BYD Seal was initially launched in China on July 29, 2022, and deliveries began in August last year. BYD made a revamped version of the Seal available on May 10 and a hybrid Seal DM-i on September 6.
In the January-November period, BYD Seal sold 107,230 units, up 214.49 percent year-on-year.
BYD’s flagship SUV Tang sold 10,643 units in November, down 46.84 percent year-on-year while up 0.66 percent from October.
In the January-November period, the Tang family of models sold 125,868 units, down 3.67 percent year-on-year.
BYD Chaser 05 sold 5,950 units in November, down 1.36 percent year-on-year and down 25.31 percent from October.
In the January-November period, BYD Chaser 05 sold 85,858 units, up 254.14 percent year-on-year.
The BYD Frigate 07 sold 2,577 units in November, down 39.32 percent from October. The model was officially launched on December 19, 2022.
In the January-November period, BYD Frigate 07 sold 67,677 units.
BYD e2 sold 1,290 units in November, an increase of 28.10 percent from October. The compact NEV was launched on April 6 and has accumulated sales of 17,196 units so far.
