Pre-sales of the Seal DM-i start at RMB 176,800, and the new Tang starts at RMB 250,000.

BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY), China’s largest new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, began pre-sales of two new models and let a new model debut at the Chengdu auto show, which starts today.
BYD held a pre-sale launch of the Seal DM-i on the first day of the Chengdu auto show, which is offered in six variants with a starting price of RMB 176,800 ($24,260) – RMB 246,800.
This year’s Chengdu auto show is being held at the Western China International Expo City and will run until September 3, with August 25 as media day. All of BYD’s brands are in Hall 3, with the BYD brand’s booth located at H301.
The Seal DM-i is the newest member of the Seal family, the plug-in hybrid first debuted on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show, but at the time it was called the Chaser 07.
BYD renamed the Chaser 07 the Seal DM-i on July 14, seemingly hoping to capitalize on the Seal’s greater popularity. Originally launched in China on July 29, 2022, the BYD Seal is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and is seen as one of the strongest rivals to the Tesla Model 3 in China.
The Seal DM-i is a B+ sedan with a length, width and height of 4,980 millimeters, 1,890 millimeters and 1,495 millimeters, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,900 millimeters.
The model’s NEDC pure electric range on battery power is 121 km and 200 km respectively.
The first production cars of the Seal DM-i rolled off the production line on July 19 at BYD’s manufacturing facility in Zhengzhou, Henan province in central China, the local Henan Daily previously reported.
Customers who book the model now can get benefits including a 2-year 0-interest loan, a RMB 5,000 trade-in subsidy, and a free charging pile, according to information released by BYD today.
Along with the Seal DM-i, BYD also started pre-sales of the new Tang family models today.
As before, the Tang family continues to be offered in BEV versions, PHEV versions, the latter of which includes the more fuel-economy-oriented DM-i version, and the more performance-oriented DM-p version.
The new Tang EV comes in three versions with pre-sale starting prices of RMB 250,000, RMB 270,000 and RMB 300,000 respectively.
The new Tang DM-i is available in one version only, with a pre-sale starting price of RMB 250,000 yuan.
The new Tang DM-p is available in 3 versions with a starting price of RMB 270,000, RMB 290,000 and RMB 310,000 respectively.
Customers who order the new Tang family models now can get benefits including RMB 4,000 trade-in subsidy and a free charging pile.
BYD also let the production version of the Song L debut today, and the shooting brake SUV was shown as a concept car at the April 18 Shanghai auto show.
