Arcfox, the electric vehicle (EV) brand of Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC Group), has announced its entry into the Dominican market, further expanding its presence overseas despite its poor performance in the domestic market.
Arcfox signed a partnership agreement on February 26 with Qingdao Tang Buy International Import & Export, and Sertelsa Solar of the Dominican Republic to enter the Dominican market, according to a press release today.
Briunny Garabito Segura, ambassador of the Dominican Republic to China, and BAIC executives witnessed the signing, according to the release.

Since last year, Arcfox has been stepping up its international market development efforts to enter the global stage through vehicle exports and technology exports, it said.
Arcfox’s vehicles have been shipped to a number of countries, and this year, the company will accelerate the construction of its overseas sales and service network, it said.
Arcfox is one of the first new car-making forces in China. It announced monthly sales volumes in 2020, but did not do so starting in 2021, as sales performance weakened.
On October 9, 2023, Arcfox said Beijing Electric Vehicle Co (BJEV), the EV-making arm of BAIC Group, signed a letter of intent to collaborate with Turing, a Japanese startup dedicated to mass-producing fully autonomous electric vehicles.
Based on the partnership, Arcfox plans to begin offering the α-S electric sedan in the Japanese market in 2024, according to a press release last October.
On October 10, 2023, Arcfox announced that it had signed a partnership agreement with Bin Omeir Holding Group, a company from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in which it plans to jointly explore the UAE and Saudi markets.
Bin Omeir will procure Arcfox’s models, complete the certification for the Gulf region, develop the Gulf emergency call system and conduct a high temperature environment adaptability validation in preparation for the official introduction of Arcfox products.
Bin Omeir had confirmed the purchase of 600 Arcfox vehicles as an initial order, and the two companies will explore other collaborations in the future, including equity partnerships, according to a previous press release.
