BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the Seal in Macau, bringing the electric vehicle to more markets.
BYD announced the Seal electric sedan for local customers at a launch event in Macau on October 10, the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker’s third model there after the Atto 3 and Dolphin.
The BYD Seal is offered in two versions in Macau, starting at HK$299,000 ($38,220) for the long-range version and HK$327,000 for the 4WD performance version.
The BYD Seal battery electric vehicle (BEV), which initially went on sale in the Chinese mainland on July 29, 2022, is one of the main competitors to the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.
The model has five versions in the Chinese mainland, with current starting prices of RMB 189,800 ($25,990), RMB 202,800, RMB 222,800, RMB 239,800, and RMB 279,800.
On September 6, BYD launched the hybrid version of the Seal DM-i in the Chinese mainland, with a starting price range of RMB 166,800 to RMB 236,800.
In April 2022, BYD launched the Atto 3 in Macau, which is known as the Yuan Plus in the mainland. In August this year, BYD launched the Dolphin in Macau.
In addition to Macau, BYD announced a few days ago the launch of the Seal BEV in Singapore and Chile.
BYD sold a record 287,454 NEVs in September, with the Seal series contributing 14,427 units, up 93.05 percent year-on-year and up 153.11 percent from August, according to figures it announced earlier this month.
In September, BYD sold a record 28,039 NEVs in overseas markets, up 12.05 percent from 25,023 in August.
