Huawei-backed new energy vehicle (NEV) brand Aito has today begun pre-sales for the M5 Ultra SUV (sport utility vehicle), which it said will be the most powerful M5.
Pre-sales for the M5 Ultra start at RMB 238,000 yuan ($32,680). Those who pre-order the model can pay RMB 2,000 to get RMB 5,000 off the final payment.
The M5 Ultra will come with five major upgrades covering the exterior, intelligent driving system, handling, safety, and cabin.
The model will be equipped with 192-channel LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar, which will lead to enhanced smart driving capabilities.
The M5 Ultra will come standard with Huawei’s high-level smart driving system, and the model’s release will be later this month, Huawei’s managing director and chairman of the smart car solutions business unit, Richard Yu, said in a video today.
Aito is a premium NEV brand launched on December 2, 2021 by local carmaker Seres Group with Huawei.
The M5 is Aito’s first model, which was initially launched on December 23, 2021. Aito’s current models on sale also include the M7 and the M9.
On April 23 last year, Aito launched the updated M5 offering three options including 2 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, and 1 battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant.
The model’s current starting prices for the three variants are RMB 249,800, RMB 279,800 and RMB 269,800 respectively.
It measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,625 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.
