GAC Aion has launched the Aion Y Plus in Hong Kong and gave its Hyper sub-brand’s Hyper HT SUV, Hyper SSR supercar their debut in the city.

GAC Aion, the electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of GAC Group, has entered the Hong Kong market, further expanding its international presence.
The company launched the Aion Y Plus crossover in Hong Kong on January 28 and had its Hyper sub-branded Hyper HT SUV, Hyper SSR supercar make their debut in the city, according to a press release yesterday.
GAC Aion did not mention the price of the Aion Y Plus in Hong Kong. The model is currently offered in 11 versions in the Chinese mainland, with a starting price range of RMB 119,800 ($16,680) to RMB 189,800.
GAC Aion plans to build six sales and service centers and directly managed stores in Hong Kong in 2024, according to the company.
The company already has over 300 superchargers in Hong Kong, supporting voltages of up to 1,000 V, it said.

GAC Aion plans to launch more pure electric and plug-in hybrid models in Hong Kong next, it said.
GAC Aion is one of the top-selling EV makers in the Chinese mainland, selling 45,947 vehicles in December, up 53.12 percent year-on-year, and up 10.54 percent from November, according to data it announced on January 1.
In 2023, GAC Aion sold 480,003 vehicles, up 77.02 percent year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the international market, GAC Aion, like many of its local peers, is currently targeting Southeast Asia.
GAC Aion officially entered the Thai market on June 28, 2023 by signing a memorandum of cooperation with a Thai distributor.
On August 21, 2023, GAC Aion shipped 100 units of Aion Y Plus to Thailand, its first shipment of vehicles to an overseas market.
The company announced on November 29, 2023 that it has a factory in Thailand in the pipeline with a design capacity of 50,000 units per year, to be constructed in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by July 2024.
On December 2, GAC Aion announced its entry into the Cambodian market, where it launched the Aion Y Plus.
