China’s passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales stood at 567,000 units in December 1-24, up 22 percent from the same period last year and up 10 percent from the same period last month, data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on December 27 showed.
So far this year, China’s passenger NEV retail sales amounted to 7.375 million units, up 34 percent from the same period last year.
In December 1-24, China’s passenger NEV wholesale sales were 655,000 units, up 34 percent from the same period last year and up 7 percent from the same period in November, according to the CPCA.
So far this year, China’s passenger NEV wholesale sales stood at 8.428 million units, up 35 percent from a year earlier.
In the December 1-24 period, China’s retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 1.525 million units, up 7 percent from the same period last year and up 20 percent from the same period last month, the CPCA said.
So far this year, retail sales of passenger cars in China were up 5 percent to 20.869 million units.
That means China’s NEV penetration at retail was 37.2 percent from December 1-24, and 35.3 percent so far this year.
In the first week of December — December 1-10, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 47,485, up 7 percent from a year ago and up 8 percent from the same period last month.
In the second week of December — December 11-17, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 66,770, up 2 percent from a year earlier and up 14 percent from a month earlier.
In the third week of December — December 18-24, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 83,244, up 11 percent from a year ago and up 38 percent from the same period last month.
In December 1-24, China’s passenger car wholesale sales amounted to 1,523,000 units, an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period last year and up 5 percent compared to the same period last month. Cumulative wholesale sales for the year to date amounted to 24,338,000 units, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period last year.
In the first week of December, China’s average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 45,682 units, up 9 percent from a year earlier while down 4 percent from a month earlier.
In the second week of December, China’s average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 72,522 units, up 17 percent from a year earlier and up 13 percent from a month earlier.
In the third week of December, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 79,862, up 24 percent from a year ago and up 8 percent from a month ago.
